Uber Partakes in Recent Trend of Tech Companies Protecting Privacy of Users from the Government

Uber joins the fight in protecting privacy as it refuses to give its drivers’ personal info over to the city of San Francisco in order to contact them regarding business licenses.

Uber is going to court seeking to block San Francisco from forcing it to provide the names and addresses of its drivers.

The city wants the information so it can notify drivers that they are required to get business licenses, just like all other small enterprises in the city, from nail salons to freelance writers. But Uber, which previously has provided the information for city audits, says it wants to protect its drivers’ privacy.

Certainly an important debate whether or not Uber is required to give this information over to the city. Uber drivers still need a business license to operate legally in San Francisco and other cities. Busines Licenses, LLC can help with exactly that. Specific services special for Uber drivers.

Next Stop on the Ride-Sharing App Business License Train: Nevada

Nevada is the next state to pass legislation requiring business licenses for Uber and Lyft drivers.

Drivers for ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft will have to verify they have a state business license under a bill approved Friday by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Labor and Energy…New drivers would be given six months to obtain a state business license and provide annual verification.

The growing trend continues. Business Licenses, LLC has a service specifically to help Uber drivers get licensed without the hassle and headache.

Ride-Sharing App Drivers Have Good News Coming Their Way in California

Uber and Lyft drivers catch a break in California as legislators attempt to make their licensing process easier.

Senate Bill 182 from state Sen. Steven Bradford (D-Los Angeles) attempts to make it easier for drivers to comply with local rules governing taxation and registration for independent contractors — an employee classification the companies have long argued fits their drivers.

“This bill would add clarity to the process of obtaining a business license for drivers while protecting working-class Californians from fees and costs that can dramatically impact their ability to do business,” Bradford said in a statement.

There are special services available just for Uber drivers to file for and obtain their business licenses on their behalf.

San Francisco Treasurer Forgives Penalties and Extends Registration Deadline for Uber & Lyft Drivers

First, ride-sharing app drivers were informed they are required to pay business license fees in order to operate legally in San Francisco. Then they were told they’d need to pay late fees for all the time they were operating without proper registration as a business. Now the word is out from the city Treasurer that late fees will be forgiven, and that Uber/Lyft drivers will be given more time to get properly licensed.

Drivers for transportation network companies like Lyft and Uber who were told, depending on whom you ask, somewhat abruptly in April that they would need to obtain business licenses, are being granted two forms of reprieve. First, they’ll have more time to pay up and register with the city, and second, they’ll be granted forgiveness from previously enforced fines for past non-registration. Business licenses come at a cost of $91 per year, and the penalty for working without a license is $155 per year.

This is certainly a lot of change and adjustment over a short period of time for Uber drivers and others like. All this back and forth, law changes, late fees, and forgiveness can cause plenty of stress headaches. Good thing there is a service that can help Uber drivers figure out which licenses they need, and can even file all the forms and obtain the license on their behalf.

Late Fees Haunt Ride-Sharing App Drivers

“Many Uber and Lyft drivers unexpectedly owe San Francisco more than $700 in late business fees, the San Francisco Examiner has learned…At first, the fees were expected to be minimal…Now those same drivers are crying foul as those fees are skyrocketing for some who registered with the San Francisco Treasurer and Tax Collector’s Office.”

While we can’t take away the controversial late fees, our services can ensure your Uber business license application is completed in a thorough and timely manner. You, as the driver, just need to receive the license at the end. Check out our Uber driver business license package.

San Francisco Doesn’t Make Driving for Uber Easy

A week after legislation was passed requiring Uber and Lyft drivers to obtain business licenses in order to operate legally in San Francisco, drivers are discovering that there’s more than just an annual fee due.

[As] reported last week, the licenses “cost $91 each, annually”…It might be time to up that figure, however, as drivers who are heading out to get their licenses are now being told that they’re also on the hook for an additional $155 in fees and penalties for every year they worked without the license, CBS 5 reports.

While we are not in any place to comment on whether this rule is fair or not, LicenseSuite services can help make this frustrating process much easier. We have uniquely designed packages for Uber drivers to either get them all the paperwork they need to file, or to have a specialist handle all filing and paperwork on their behalf. These services are uber helpful.

San Francisco orders Uber and Lyft drivers to obtain business licenses

San Francisco has introduced legislation requiring 37,000 ride-sharing app drivers to obtain business licenses in order to operate in the city.

Uber is not planning to fight, according to an email from spokesperson Laura Zapata: “Uber partners with entrepreneurial drivers and as independent contractors, they are responsible for following appropriate local requirements.”

Uber may not be fighting the new law, but that won’t prevent their drivers from having to fight their way through authorities to actually get their business license. That’s where our services come in.

Uber drivers struggling to figure out how to obtain or actually get their business licenses can use our services to get all the forms they need to apply or they can choose our full-service option and then the only thing the driver needs to do is receive the license.

Uber drivers now need a business license to operate in San Francisco

An ongoing regulation battle between cities and ride-sharing companies has resulted in San Francisco now requiring drivers for Uber and Lyft to obtain a $91 business license annually, in order operate there.

The requirement highlights the legal complexity of Uber’s and Lyft’s business models, which rely on independent contractors, rather than employees, to shuttle passengers. Those contractors must comply with local laws which may differ in many of the hundreds of cities around the world where they operate.

The City by the Bay is the next up in a recent trend of cities and states passing legislation ordering ride-sharing company drivers to have a business license in order to operate legally. Fortunate for these drivers, Business Licenses, LLC is always on top of the latest trends.

Uber drivers struggling to figure out how to obtain their business license can use our services to get all the forms they need to apply or they can choose our full-service option and then the only thing the driver needs to do is receive the license. Business Licenses, LLC has Uber drivers’ backs.

Uber gets the green light in Huntsville, AL

Raiser, an Uber affiliate, has been approved by city council to operate and own a business license. This comes weeks after the council officially allowed ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft to conduct business within Huntsville city limits.

“This takes our transportation system into the 21st Century,” Mayor Tommy Battle has said, adding, “It’s something our citizens have asked for.”

This Alabama town is embracing the future of transportation. Now Uber drivers need to embrace the news laws that come with the growing popularity and use of these ride-sharing companies. Fortunately for them, Business Licenses, LLC has expanded its service offering to specifically cover Uber driving.

Uber drivers can request a basic compliance package and have an expert examine their unique license requirements and send them all of the necessary documents to file. Or they can request the full licensing service, where everything involved in the process – from exact license determination to filing on their behalf and dealing with the authorities – will get taken care of by the Business Licenses, LLC team.

Our tools will enable potential Uber drivers to never get stuck at a red light.
