No Liquor License, No Problem in California

Beauty salons in California can now serve beer and wine – free of charge – to customers sans liquor license, according to a new law.

A popular high-end salon chain, Drybar, was the driving force behind the bill…”That was something women were talking about – why they loved Drybar – they loved getting their hair done, they love the confidence they had when they went out the door, but they also love having a glass of wine while sitting here,”…The new law does not mean bottomless booze for your beauty treatments. It mandates that salons can only serve 6 ounces of wine or 12 ounces of beer per customer. The drinks also have to be free and have to be served before 10 p.m.

While salons in California caught a lucky break, most establishments that sell any type of alcohol need a liquor license, as it’s a heavily regulated field. Business Licenses, LLC can help file for your liquor license.

Moberly Looking to Mobilize on Business License Rules Changes

Moberly, Missouri City Council looking to change business license laws and it will affect every small business, as they strive for gross receipts taxes and license fees to be applied evenly among all the city’s businesses.

“It’s a very unusual situation for us to find ourselves in,” he said. Thompson noted that individual business owners who might be taxed when they weren’t before if the city decides to apply the gross receipts tax might make the argument that a “new” tax can’t be applied without an election to do so. Thompson went on to say that he has found very little precedent for this, so how to proceed is still up in the air.

DC Bar In Hot Water Due To Its Liquor License…Again

After getting shut down by the Alcoholic Beverage Control in November, this speakeasy bar in Washington, DC reopens, but regulators still have a bone to pick.

It turns out, however, The Speak may still be a real speakeasy. According to Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration spokesperson Jessie Cornelius, it’s a violation for an establishment to operate under any trade name that has not been approved by the liquor board. The Speak is not an approved trade name—only Vieux Carre is listed on the liquor license. Cornelius says ABRA is investigating the matter.

Any business that deals with or serves alcohol is going to be heavily regulated and scrutinized. Big brother ABC is watching. Let the experts handle the filing for your liquor licenses, so you can make sure you’re in the clear.

One lonely liquor license

After mistakenly believing that more than one eating establishment in the same complex can own a liquor license, The Doughnut Hole is now pleading with the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission to grant second one to another Public Market store.

The Doughnut Hole’s owner has asked the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission for the right to expand its offerings to help offset high rent for the space…But there’s a problem: Public Market tenant Breezy Island Ice already has a liquor license, and under state regulations, only one business may license an indoor area.

Every state has its liquor license laws. Some have laws restricting the number of liquor licenses allowed to be issued per city/town/county based on population. New Jersey, for example, does this.

And Nebraska’s law is not to allow more than one store in an indoor complex to own a liquor license. Ownership checked to see if there were liquor licenses available and saw that there were, but didn’t realize that an obscure state regulation demanded that only one business per physical location can have a liquor license. The research experts at Business Licenses, LLC would have told them exactly that and would have saved them a lot of headache.

City of Augusta, GA masters vendor license process

It’s that time of year again – the Masters Golf Tournament. And along with an influx of golfers and fans into Augusta, comes vendors setting up shop and hoping to take advantage of the crowded city streets.

Properly licensed vendors receive a special lanyard to display at their tent, enabling inspectors to easily give the OK or crack down on unlicensed sellers.

For the tents, temporary licenses are necessary. And now, inspectors have an easier way to make sure everyone has them… Even if you’re selling water bottles, chances are you need license to set up shop. If only for this one week a year.

Having a tent set up to sell goods even for a week requires a vendor to have some sort of license. If they get caught out of compliance, they will lose precious time for making sales in order to figure out what they need and obtain it. The wise vendors get it all taken care of beforehand. LicenseSuite can figure out exactly what a vendor needs and even do the filing on their behalf. Ensuring you’re all set to go legally is our idea of a hole-in-one.
